[TOYS] Collective Dinner #9

“Blood, Bones & Butter” was the theme of the latest TOYS collective dinner, held at Otto Ristorante on Feb 27. This time around it was an all female collaboration, with Christine Mansfield as guest Mentor and collaboration between chefs/sommeliers/bartenders/artists from some of Sydney’s most prestigious haunts (Bloodwood, Victoria Room, Becasse, Universal..etc etc!). This was one truly impressive dinner, a complete deviation from the normal, it started with eating the table garnishes and was topped off with your dessert falling from the sky onto the table in front of you.

Dinner In The Clouds

Last night I was asked to photograph this special beauty editor’s dinner for Cloud 9 (A range of hair styling tools), and it hands down was one of the most beautiful events I’ve ever seen! Although it was a hard one to shoot, with a fog machine and a hazy blue light – two elements that aren’t very camera friendly), I hope I was able to capture how truly magical a dinner it was.

A wrap up! 2011 saw myself shooting in a wedding in Greece, the Aurora Borealis in Iceland and on the sand dunes in Gippsland, Victoria. And in addition to contributing to Getty Images, there were plenty of store and restaurant interiors, portraits (family, corporate and celebrity), launches and parties to keep me busy in Sydney. Gippsland for Tourism Victoria

A couple of months ago my great friend Matt Weston asked me to shoot stills and behind the scenes for an ad he was directing to promote Gippsland for Tourism Victoria. These are some pictures that came out of the trip, from shooting from helicopters to sanddunes, it was one of the best photographic experiences I’ve had. And not much beats staying in a haunted lighthouse for a week. You can view the ad below, too.

Corey, the artist responsible for the whimsical (500kg) sculpture of a spinifex (a type of grass indigenous to coastal Australia), made of local branches found on the ground in surrounding bush.

Iceland

While my good friend and director Matt Weston were on the opposite side of the world on a job, the only place we wanted to visit together was Iceland. Not knowing at all what to expect, the island’s beauty completely surprised us. Unfortunately we didn’t have the greatest luck with blue skies, nevertheless I’ve seen enough sheep and waterfalls to last a lifetime, with photos to prove it.
